From 1981 to 1988, Prof. A. Sathasivam held the Chair of Tamil at the University of Peradeniya. This later phase brought his academic journey back to one of the institutions most closely connected with his education and early career.
His return to Peradeniya linked the beginning and final phase of his university life. Having first studied there as a Tamil Special student and later served as Assistant Lecturer and Senior Lecturer, he returned as a senior professor with decades of teaching, research and leadership experience.
