University of Ceylon, Peradeniya and Prof. A. Sathasivam

The University of Ceylon, Peradeniya, was central to Prof. A. Sathasivam’s education and academic career. He entered the university in 1948 and read Tamil as a special subject, graduating in 1952 with First Division honours.

Peradeniya was also the place where his professional academic life began. After completing his B.A., he was appointed Assistant Lecturer in Tamil in 1952. He later obtained his M.A. from the University of Ceylon in 1954 before proceeding to Oxford for doctoral research.
